Collector Market Check: September 2026 Sold Comps
A dated look at the September 21 sold-comp snapshot: where recorded evidence is plentiful, where it is thin, and where a title match needs closer review.
What This Snapshot Covers
This check uses the eBay sold-comp file captured September 21, 2026, for 147 tracked titles. The stored condition buckets hold 4,350 tier-labeled matches in all: 841 labeled raw sealed, 222 graded sealed, 29 graded CIB, and 3,258 loose or CIB. These are records in our matching snapshot, not an independently audited count of distinct transactions. The labels require inspection, as the example below shows.
The catalog grew from 113 titles in our July check to 147 in this snapshot. That makes a direct comparison of total sales counts misleading. This article describes the September evidence; it does not claim that the whole market rose or fell between the two checks.
Why a Condition Label Needs Inspection
Perfect Dark on Nintendo 64 illustrates a classification limit in this snapshot. The stored raw-sealed bucket reports 32 matches, but one of its five displayed example titles explicitly says UKG Graded 90+. That sale belongs with graded copies, so we will not use this bucket to claim a precise raw-versus-graded price gap.
We have tightened the title classifier to recognize UKG and generic graded wording on future refreshes. This September 21 file predates that correction. For a buying decision, read the sale titles, grader, grade, seal, printing, and region behind a median before treating it as a comparable value.
Where the Dreamcast Sample Is Thin
Jet Grind Radio has five matches in the raw-sealed bucket, 48 in loose or CIB, and only two in graded sealed. The five displayed sealed examples all explicitly identify Jet Grind Radio for Dreamcast and describe a new or sealed copy, but a two-sale graded group is too thin to establish a reliable grading premium.
Use the right condition bucket first, then check the displayed examples and their sample size. A fresh timestamp cannot make a small sample deep, and the visible examples do not replace an inspection of the exact copy you intend to buy.
An Empty Bucket Is Information
The September sweep stored no raw-sealed matches for Super Mario Bros. in its current sample. Our July article reported a raw-sealed median from its earlier sweep, but that figure is a dated historical observation, not a September quote. We do not fill the empty September bucket with the old number.
If the exact condition or variant you want has no current comparable sales, widen your research or wait for better evidence. Asking prices and record auction headlines are not substitutes for a condition-matched sold sample.
